Helen M (VanSant) Giovanini

Helen VanSant Giovanini (98) of Clinton passed away, Sunday evening, February 12, at 10:15 PM at Springhill Village in Terre Haute, surrounded by her family.   Born, November 19, 1924, in Cayuga to Vern and Olive Trosper VanSant.   She was the retired owner of the former Clinton Florist and Gift Shop and a receptionist at Giovanini Funeral Home.  In her younger years she worked at DuPont (Newport Ammunition Plant), Indiana State House in Indianapolis, Terre Haute Army Ordinance during WWII.  After her marriage she worked at the U.S. Post Office in Cayuga.  She was a former member of V.F.W. Auxiliary – Clinton, and M.A.L. Delta Theta Tau Sorority, Eta Chi Chapter – Cayuga, and graduated from Cayuga Highschool with the class of 1943 where she served on the alumni committee for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; Pete Giovanini (1973), Son; Steven (2002), Daughter; Marianne Samson (1989), Grandson; Camaron Samson (1989) and Granddaughter; Ciara Samson (1985)

She is survived by her two sons: Gary (Susan) Giovanini of Mountain Home, Arkansas and Rick (Myra) Giovanini of Clinton, Indiana

Daughter-in-law; Frances Giovanini of Edwardsville, Illinois

Son-in-law; Russell Samson (Lori) of Tampa, Florida

4 granddaughters; Angie (Tyler) Lowe, Stephanie (Sean) Harmon both of Edwardsville, Illinois, Tiffany Giovanini of Santa Monica, California, and Anna Marie (Wayne) Hollowell of Clinton

1 grandson; Brandon Samson of Arizona

7 great grandchildren

Visitation will be Thursday, February 16, 2023  at Giovanini Funeral Home from 5:00 to 8:00 pm.  Funeral services will be conducted at Giovanini Funeral Home, Friday, February 17, 2023 at 11:00 AM with Fr. Joby Puthussery officiating.   Internment will be at Walnut Grove Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in her memory can be made to Sacred Heart Church or Parke-Vermillion Humane Society.
