Minnie Nepote, 98, passed away June 3, 2021, at Clinton Gardens. She was born in Clinton, IN
July 9, 1922 to Ernesto and Domenica Giovanini Fossi, both Italian immigrants. Having lost her
mother as an infant, Minnie, the youngest of thirteen children, grew up in Clinton with her
father, who coal mined the hills behind the family home while raising food for the family on the
land as well.
She had various employment over the years, but her primary role was that of a loving and
caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother. Family
was precious to her, with her always doing special things for everyone. Her Italian food was
always available in abundance. She loved to have fun; she especially loved to polka dance. She
also cared for several friends and family members during their times of need. She was a
member of Dailey Chapel Christian Church.
In addition to her parents, Minnie was preceded in death by her husband, Domenic Nepote, Sr.,
in 1976, after 35 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by her twelve siblings:
brothers Ernest, Joe, Eugene, Michael, and Pete Fossi, sisters Jennie Bonomo, EmmaTomich,
Edith Costa, Cynthia Reposh, and Margaret Pepelea, twin siblings deceased at birth, and her
son-in-law Chuck Johnson.
Minnie is survived by her daughter Rose Johnson (Chuck, deceased), and son Domenic Nepote,
Jr. (Terri). She is also survived by grandchildren Chas Johnson (Nancy), Vicky Riggen (Randy),
Gina Metheny (Mark), Lisa Quraish (Komail), and Domenic “Nick” Nepote III (Lacey). She is also
survived by great grandchildren Alexandra Johnson (Jordan), Carlie Johnson (Ethan), Brandon
Johnson, Jerimiah Riggen (Vanessa), Dwight Riggen (Nicole), Gretchen Riggen (Daniel), Nora and
Tate Metheny, Noah and Mehdi Quraish, and Leila and Raegan Nepote, and great great
grandchildren Addison, Cora, Walker, Wyatt and Abram Riggen. She is also survived by many
nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Giovanini Funeral Home, 408 Vine Street, Clinton, IN on Wednesday,
June 9, 2021 from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm with memorial service to follow at 1:00 pm. Graveside
service will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Minnie’s memory can be made to Dailey Chapel
Christian Church, 6767 W 600 S, Rosedale, IN 47874, or the BrightFocus Foundation, 22512
Gateway Center Drive, Clarksburg, Maryland 20871. Donations to the Foundation should be
written to “Alzheimer’s Disease Research”. Envelopes will also be available at the funeral home.
