Cynthia Marie Sartor of Clinton, Indiana passed peacefully on May 12, 2024, at 9:37 PM at Providence Health Care – St. Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana. Born November 23, 1948, at Lyla Hospital in Battle Creek, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her father Ambrogio Sartor and her mother Domenica (Conto), and her brother John Dominica Sartor.
Cynthia graduated high school in 1966 from St. Phillips High School in Battle Creek, Michigan. She went on to graduate from Mercy College in Detroit in 1971. Cynthia continued her studies, receiving a Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Louisville, Kentucky School of Social Work in 1979. Following that, she received a Ph.D. in Social Work from the University of Illinois at Urbana in 1990.
Cynthia spent 8 years living and working in Eastern Kentucky, Floyd County, near the West Virginia border. She has 40 years in Behavioral Health Social Work as well as several years teaching Social Work at Indiana State University. Dr. Sartor was Executive Director at Hamilton Center in charge of Clinical Services for persons suffering from severe and persistent mental illness.
Cynthia was a wood carver, painter of religious icons and enjoyed writing stories and poems.
In accordance with her wishes, there will be neither a funeral nor a memorial. In lieu of flowers, Cynthia prefers memorial contributions be given to Sisters of Providence, St. Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana, Peace and Justice Department.
